These terms govern your use of scotfuel.com and your ScotFuel membership. By using the site or paying for membership, you agree to them.
Who we are. ScotFuel is operated by [Legal entity name to be confirmed], [registered address to be confirmed]. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean ScotFuel.
What ScotFuel is
ScotFuel is a price comparison and group-buying coordination platform for heating oil in Scotland. We help you:
- Compare indicative prices from several suppliers for your postcode and order size
- Join or start a group order with neighbours to unlock volume discounts
ScotFuel does not sell heating oil. We are not a fuel supplier. Prices shown are estimates and are confirmed by the supplier before delivery. When you place an order or join a group, the contract for the oil itself is between you and the supplier you've chosen - not with ScotFuel.
Membership
- Group order access requires a ScotFuel membership, currently £1.99/month
- Membership is billed monthly and recurring until cancelled, processed securely via Stripe
- We never see or store your card details
- To cancel, contact us via the contact form on scotfuel.com and we will cancel your membership and confirm by email. You won't be charged again after cancellation, and you keep access until the end of your current billing period
- You may cancel at any time. We do not charge cancellation fees
How group orders work
- When you start or join a group, you commit to a litre amount and a closing date that you (or the group's starter) choose
- Discount tiers shown are estimates based on combined litres and are not guaranteed - they depend on final confirmation from the supplier
- Each household may only join a group once. We check this using your postcode and house name/number. Submitting false address details to bypass this is not permitted and may result in your order being cancelled
- When a group closes, we contact the supplier to confirm the order on behalf of everyone in the group, then contact members with delivery details
- Group data is automatically deleted 14 days after the group's closing date
Orders
- Placing an order through ScotFuel (individually or as part of a group) is a request for that order - the sale itself is completed directly with the supplier
- Delivery times, final pricing and oil quality are the responsibility of the supplier you've ordered from
- Individual orders can only be placed Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, when prices are confirmed live with suppliers
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Provide false information, including fake addresses or postcodes, to gain a discount you're not entitled to
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the site or its systems
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
Liability
We do our best to show accurate, up-to-date prices, but prices shown are estimates and may change before a supplier confirms your order. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ScotFuel is not liable for losses arising from supplier delivery delays, pricing changes, or the quality of oil supplied - these are matters between you and the supplier. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and any disputes will be handled by the Scottish courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
